The Ministry of Education met with health officials this morning to discuss the re-opening of schools. The decision was made that schools would remain closed for the time being and that the situation would be reviewed in 2 weeks.
The Isolation Centre is about to be officially opened. The actual start date would be provided in a subsequent update. We continue to receive support from local, regional and international communities for our COVID-19 response.
The Ministry of Health is doing its best to minimise the risks that COVID-19 poses to our population. We must not lower our guard or become complacent. It is possible for us to see additional cases.
We must continue to be vigilant and guided by the science. Wash your hands, maintain physical distance and take all reasonable precautions.
It was reported yesterday that the second person to be diagnosed with COVID-19 here has now made a full recovery. We thank God for this favourable development.
We have had 12 confirmed cases of COVID-19 to date with 2 recoveries. Thus, there are currently 10 active cases of COVID-19 in country. From all reports, the active cases are recovering well.
