Breaking: Arouca Police Station closes.....over sick cop who recently returned to T&T

Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith, has ordered the closure of the Arouca Police Station after a police officer, with a recent travel history, developed flu-like symptoms this week.

Griffith said the officer, left the country on March 4th without the necessary approval and knowledge and went to St Maarten.

He returned to Trinidad on March 7 and instead of going into self-quarantine, returned to work the following day. The officer developed the flu-like symptoms this week and as a precautionary measure, all officers of the Arouca Police Station were ordered to go on self-quarantine.

Griffith said the Arouca Police Station has been temporarily closed as a result and sanitization of the premises will begin today.

Commissioner Griffith said persons wishing to make reports should do so at the following police stations:

·Commissioner said that in the meantime, there would be increased patrols in the Arouca District.

He said when the Arouca Police Station is reopened, it will be manned by police officers from other stations.

The affected police officer is awaiting to be tested.
